Lighting Africa, One Child at a Time

LED technology is revolutionizing the energy efficiency of lighting and this technology is infinitely scalable and reliable with a longer life span than any other type of lighting, making it crucial for companies like Grandstage Trading to introduce this technology to Africa. In South Africa for instance, numerous reports have been given about students studying under street lamps due to a lack of adequate electricity. Therefore we have married the Grandstage Smart LED Bulb and the Solar-Powered Lighting Africa Lamp, to curtail this crisis of lighting in South Africa and globally through the Lighting Africa, One Child at a Time project.

Through this project we use the combined energy efficiency of two of our products to light up under privileged communities that are completely off the grid. Our specific aim is to meet the needs of students who’s academic careers are being hampered by the growing lack of electricity.

The Lighting Africa Lamp: Off the Grid-Solar Powered Solution

The Grandstage Smart LED Bulb will be used for the Lighting Africa, One Child at a Time project. The lightbulb has been used to create the Grandstage Light for Africa Lamp, a solar powered and energy saver LED lightbulb. The Lighting Africa Lamp has been created as the solution to the problem of inadequate lighting in underprivileged communities. The Lighting for Africa Lamp has been specially designed with students in mind.

The solar powered aspect of the bulb means that its source of power is light or direct sunlight. In addition to the abovementioned benefits of the Grandstage Trading Smart LED Bulb. The Light for Africa Lamp is made up of a 5.5v high efficient polycrystalline silicon solar panel. It also consists of an 18650-lithium battery with a 3.7V/2200mAh. The light source of the Light for Africa Lamp is the Samsung 2835 high bright LED and 408LM. The lamp has both a manual and light sensor meaning that, if you do not manually switch it on, the lamp automatically turns on in the dark and automatically turns off when it comes into contact with light or direct sunshine. The lighting time of the bulb is ± 5 hours and it requires a charging time of 6-8 hours. The lamp’s material is plastic with PC, the size of the light is 150*84m*190m with an IP rate of IP65. The Light for Africa Lamp is multifunctional as it has an extra USB phone charging function that allows the student to charge their phones, tablets while using the light.
